Everyone loses between 50 and 70 hairs daily, mainly during sleep, due to friction on the pillow, and when washing and combing. According to dermatologists, this loss is natural and very common. The problem is when this fall is accentuated, exceeding more than 200 strands, and the hair starts to become shorter, thinner, fragile and with loss of color. It is when baldness sets in and the new hairs no longer compensate for losses.

Linked mainly to genetics, baldness is also related to several other factors such as hormonal and emotional disorders. The consequences are changes in the hair follicle which, when causing destruction of the hair matrix, result in permanent alopecia. According to the Brazilian Society of Dermatology, 80% of men will have manifested the problem by age 70, just as 30% of women will have it by the age of 50. Although not so common among them, the treatment of female baldness is even more difficult since the lack of hair in women is only noticed when 30% of the hairs have already fallen out.

– Once lost, the threads are not born again, just like in men. And it is important to be aware: the loss of more than one hundred hairs per day is the first sign that something is wrong – warns the dermatologist Helua Mussa.

Bald man

Saying goodbye to falling hair may not be so easy, but it is possible. Without a cure, baldness and androgenetic alopecia (AGA), which affects both men and women, is progressive, and the sooner a person realizes the problem and seeks a doctor, the greater the chances of controlling the process.

Attention to red spots on the skin

– There are only two ways to try to block the miniaturization of the wires and promote the growth of new ones: medicines and surgery. But before resorting to hair microtransplants, it is better to choose substances that, in addition to being cheaper, are effective in combating the progression of baldness – advises the dermatologist.

The basis of medical treatment is the reduction of DHT and the protection of androgenetic receptors against its action. Usually the benefits obtained are in reducing the speed of installation of the AAG and always after 6 to 8 months of continuous use. There is no one-time treatment in the short term.

– The patient needs to understand that the treatment must be continuous between 16 and 50 years of age, as it is in this period when this miniaturization process occurs, and the aggressions between 25 and 35 years are the strongest – warns Helua.

The medication, however, varies from patient to patient, according to their clinical and personal characteristics. That is why it is important to always consult a doctor. It is he who will diagnose the cause of baldness and the most suitable treatment.

Find out which are the main substances that help to strengthen the strands and help in reducing hair loss:

– Zymo HSOR

A novelty in the Brazilian market, Zymo is an enzyme complex of biotechnological origin that acts to combat hair loss caused by female and male androgenetic alopecia (AAG). It has the property of degrading DHT in the pilosebaceous follicle allowing the hair to regrow and receive less aggression in the baldness process. The use can be complemented by Zymo Hair Shampoo Enzyme before application. According to a study, the number of wires increases by 73% after 6 months of treatment.

– Minoxidil

It acts by improving circulation in the scalp and consequently delaying hair loss. Results alone are limited. There is no total recovery of the strands, but it reduces hair loss.

– Finasteride

Used in oral or topical form. It acts by blocking the action of DHT on the receptors of the hair bulbs of the hair predisposed to baldness. Works well for the middle and crown areas, not acting in the same way for the front and inlets. The results can be seen after 6 or 8 months of treatment.

– 17 Alpha Estradiol

Capillary solution indicated in cases of decreased anagen phase in the capillary development cycle in mild to moderate alopecia, in men and women (hair loss due to hormonal factors). Clinical studies have shown an increase in the proportion of hairs in the frontal region, proving effective in approximately 85% of patients.

– Phytotherapics

Herbs and medicinal plants have also been used to combat hair loss or baldness. Rosemary is one of the most widely used medicinal plants in shampoos, conditioners and hair creams that help in the treatment of dandruff, delay the appearance of gray hair and prevent hair loss. Gingko biloba has been indicated by doctors for its effectiveness in restoring the functioning of the circulatory system and improving blood flow, important factors in hair loss.

– Vitamins

The key factor for hair growth is a diet rich in vitamins. All contribute to the improvement of the hair, but some are essential in the restoration of the follicle, such as vitamin B, one of the best for hair growth; vitamin A, which, if not supplied in adequate amounts to the body, leads to hair loss; and vitamin E, which helps in improving the texture of the hair.

– Minerals

The lack of minerals like silicon and zinc weakens not only hair but nails and skin, for example. To help prevent and prevent hair loss, it is important to eat oysters, liver, milk and wheat bran. Zinc works mainly when patients are elderly, and their hair becomes thin and fragile.

– Ketoconazole Shampoo

Antifungal used topically on the scalp to decrease the population of fungi, excess oil (sebum is rich in DHT) and some studies show that it also inhibits DHT levels. The application should be done two to four times a week.

– Gel FF

Inhibits DHT production. The transdermal gel allows it to act only on the scalp, without systemic absorption.

– Revivogen

The formula contains natural ingredients that reduce local DHT production, block androgen receptors and stimulate hair growth. It must be applied daily.

– Helps Trichogen

It is a hydroalcoholic extract obtained from tussilage (Tussilago farfara), yarrow (Achillea millefolium) and quina (Cinchona officinallis), with tonic action and nutrient for the hair bulb. It is used in the treatment of alopecia, prevention of hair loss and changes in beard growth. It is also used as an eyelash growth stimulant. Bioenergizer Marine asset obtained from red algae Laminaria digitata, with toner and hair strengthening. It improves blood supply to the scalp and intercellular exchanges, strengthening the root and hair strands, accelerating their growth. In vivo , the amount of hair strands increased (+ 10%) and its growth rate (+ 27%).

– Follicusan

Anti-fall (tested in vitro ). Normalizes the hair growth cycle. Prevents functional disorders of the scalp, normalizes sebum secretion, preventing dandruff formation.

– Hair Active

Stimulates cell renewal and microcirculation (vasodilating action due to vitamin PP). Enables better penetration of nutrients into the follicle papilla.

It stimulates hair follicle growth, increasing keratinocytes, according to research by Professor Peter Elsner, from the Department of Dermatology at the University of Jena, Germany.

– L-Carnitine

It is responsible for maintaining energy metabolism in all cells of the body. It transports fatty acids across cell membranes to mitochondria, where beta-oxidation (burning) occurs to be transformed into energy. Stimulates hair growth in the human scalp by reducing apoptosis and increasing the proliferation of keratinocytes in the capillary matrix. It also increases physical stamina (energy), contributes to the balance of triglycerides and helps in the defense of the immune system.
